Increased Screen Time and Blue Blocking Lenses
Due to the recent changes brought on by Covid 19, many people are working from home and students are receiving instruction online. Thus we are even more connected to our digital devices, such as computers, cell phones, and tablets.
As these devices become a necessity in our lives they may also raise concerns.
Research shows high energy blue light rays from these devices may cause long term eye diseases called macular degeneration. More commonly patients are reporting immediate discomfort from these devices. These symptoms include headaches, eyestrain, fatigue, blurred vision.
So what can you do to keep your eyes safe?
Take breaks, blink, minimize your contact lens wear time when you're in front of the computers, wear quality blue-blocking lenses to protect your eyes from the harmful rays.
It is safe to see your eye doctor during Covid 19.
We are here for you. This outbreak may continue for a while, and we do not want our patients to neglect their eye care needs during this critical time. Our office has adopted specific measures to protect our staff and patients during this time (as we have always done) but continue to do so on a more viewable scale to help reduce anxiety.
