One day I wore a non-high definition pair of glasses that are still functional, but I really noticed a difference the next day when I went back to my high definition lenses! "Dr. Sharon Yamanaka is the best optometrist I have ever been too, and I have been wearing glasses/contacts since I have been 12. She is knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and really a great optometrist. She will thoroughly explain things to you regarding different tests and the health of your eyes. I have fun catching up with her when I am at her office because I have gotten to know her well over the years, and she makes me laugh. She is very down to earth and will put you at east right away if you are nervous about your eye exam. Her staff is friendly and helpful regarding selection of frames and fittings for glasses. I would highly recommend Dr. Yamanaka and her staff if you are looking to have an eye exam or need new glasses or contacts or if you're just legally blind like me."

" I don't remember how long I have been seeing Dr. Yamanaka but it has been a long time.
I guess it is a good sign of her work that my eyesight has not deteriorated a lot over the years and because I have other issues with my health that can affect my eyesight I am always comforted by the fact that Dr. Yamanaka is constantly striving to improve her self and her practice.
I know that I could get cheaper examinations and cheaper glasses at Costco or Target but I really want to make sure that I get the best treatment for my eyes and I am willing to pay more for it.
Although this doesn't stop me from giving her staff a hard time about their prices...which brings me to the quality of her staff. She has the friendliest and nicest people working for her. They are extremely professional but make you feel at home the minute you walk in the door.
Her office is always super clean and decorated very nicely with comfortable chairs and a nice flat screen monitor. The exam rooms are well kept and she keeps them equipped with the great technology.
As to the Doctor herself, She has a very easy going personality and even though I have been seeing her for years I feel that she would be just as friendly and easygoing with a new patient.

" For the last couple of years everyone kept telling me about LASIK. And even though friends had told me what a huge difference it made for them, I was still a little hesitant. Could I really afford it? Is it really as worth it as people say it is? Was it really true when people said they didn't feel a single thing during the less than 15 minute surgery? Yes, yes, and yes! Once I finally made the decision to get LASIK done, I became excited but still a little nervous. Dr. Tom Tooma and the staff at the Newport NVision Laser Eye Center did an amazing job with keeping my anxious nerves under wraps. They were great about answering questions and explaining everything to me. During the surgery, Dr. Tooma explained every little detail of what was going on, which really helped put my mind at ease. By the time I got done, all my nerves had gone and I was excited about my new vision. When I first woke up the following morning, I sat up in bed and at first I thought, " Oh great, I must have left my contacts in". But then after realizing I still had the protective eyewear I was told to sleep in, I remembered I just had LASIK the day before. Everything was so clear! I sat up in bed for a few minutes just looking around my room. I was in complete and utter amazement that I could actually see! Before having the surgery, all I saw when I woke up was a big blur of shapes and colors. But now, there's no squinting at my alarm clock to see what time it is. There's no fumbling on my nightstand trying to find my glasses. And there's no more worries of accidentally sleeping in my contacts after a night out! Even a week after my surgery, I still wake up in disbelief at how clearly I can see everything the second I open my eyes. If you're considering getting LASIK done but still have some questions about it, take my word for it when I say, "Yes you can afford it (there are plenty of payment options), Yes it is as worth it as people say it is, and Yes you really won't feel a thing during the actual surgery". So, by now, the only questions you should be asking yourself are "What am I waiting for?" and "When can I get my LASIK done!?!?"
